Our intern, Mrs. Smith, and I will do this through our website. Today I have chosen to assign lessons from programs that the students already know how to work. They will need parent help/supervision on some things--especially parts of their Pearsonrealize lessons. On Tuesday the children are supposed to read, The First Tortilla with someone that can help with words and comprehension. They are supposed to do two workbook pages (one on Monday and one on Tuesday). These can be printed out or the students can use the writing tools to complete the work. A third option is to discuss the answers with a parent.
I'm sure we will need to work out the kinks. As I tell the children, "Ask a question because someone else is probably thinking of that very same question." Please write any questions or comments on this blog. I will check it several times a day. If you are uncomfortable doing that, just contact me through Remind.
I will be checking on the students' work, so let them know that they must complete them over the next two days. If I can tell that they are not putting any effort into the assignment, I will just reassign it. (I have some students that will just type letters or guess to complete the program. That doesn't work at school and it shouldn't work at home.)
Mrs. Smith and I want to see how the kids do on these assignments. It will help us plan future lessons and activities.
We are still waiting to hear from the state and our superintendent on distance learning guidelines. I will keep you posted.
Thanks,
Mrs. Robinson
